Wine Club Wines for February 2019

For the month of February I decided to go all out on the Red Wine club and the Champagne club.  I mean there is a made up holiday in the middle of the month so I figured why not?

    Champagne Club

So I decided to go with a farmer fizz that most of you all know and love.  I'm not gonna lie, it happens to be a staple Champagne in my house but we usually finish it off over 3-days since we can never kill a bottle in one night...I'm a prom date when it comes to drinking.  The 2009 Gaston Chiquet Special Club Brut is by far one of the finest Champagnes I've ever had.  With a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir from several vineyards this Champagne sees 84 months of bottle aging before being released.  Now I would normally pair this up with something fancy...okay I wouldn't cause I'm really sick and tired of doing that.  Just drink this and relax.  "This wine always has a crazed minerality, and this one’s like a “normal” 2009 stretched taut, and someone flicked a switch on a machine that shoots a lightning bolt between two poles; it’s like phosphorescent, wailing, shrieking chalk, napped with a nage of lemon rind. —Terry Theise"  $80 a bottle

    Red Wine Club $75

One of the benefits to being in our wine clubs is you get the ability to try out new wines before anyone else does.  In this case for the month of February you're getting something that has never been in our area till now.  Domaine Duband is a rising star in Burgundy but he also did something that made me take notice of him 13 years ago...he purchased the vineyards from my favorite producer in the whole world...Domaine Jacky Truchot.  Once David did that...I knew he would explode in greatness and he has.

Domaine Duband's wines are extremely allocated and usually have some kind of conditions when purchasing them.  In this case I had to buy 6 bottles of Domaine Roumier worth over $3000 USD just to get my hands on Duband's wines.  A wise decision being that Roumier are in such high demand that I sold all 6 bottles in less than 24hrs.  So...you be getting one bottle of the 2016 Domaine Duband Bourgogne Hautes-Cotrs de Nuits "Louis Auguste".  I was only able to get 12 bottles of this wine so I hope you all love it.  I've only tasted the '15...I'm letting you all take the first snootful.  $45

The second bottle is from the Clerico family.  The 2012 Clerico Arte Langhe is a dandy of a wine.  With a bend of 90% nebbiolo 10% Barbera, Great complex nose, dark and red fruit, jam, herbs, grass, tobacco, juicy full body, beautiful acidity, very well balanced, powerful yet very pleasant tannins, long lasting finish. Super wine!  I would actually consider this a baby Barolo but it does have that little bit of Barbera.  $30

Daily Drinking Red Wine Club $39
