• September 2016 Wine Club Wines

    Well, well, well...we are back.  I didn't charge anyone for their wine clubs wines for the month of August since we were not open and I didn't have a place to keep wines cool and safe until the end of the month when I received our wine coolers.  The shop is up and running again so wine clubs are back in full swing.  


    Daily Drinking Red Wine Club

    2014 Chateau de Gaudou Cahors - The simplest and fruitiest of the Cahors made at Gaudou, this is still a structured wine that has some firm, very young tannins that need to round out. Plenty of fruity, fresh black-currant flavor is cut by crisp acidity. 

    2014 Domaine Petroni Corse Red - Domaine Petronis 100 hectares of vines lie close to Lake Diana on the eastern coast of Corsica, and the property that has been around since 1885 is now run by the Ramazotti brothers who took over in 2008. This wine is 50% Niellucciu, 35% Syrah, 15% Grenache, and it's kind of a juicy, purple monster of a wine, especially for Corsica!

    2014 Donna Laura 'Ali' Tuscan Red - This wine has aromas of juicy red berry fruit. Medium-bodied and soft on the palate, with balanced acidity and ripe tannins.  Delicious with pastas and grilled meats, yet also very drinkable without food.

    Red Wine Club

    2009 La Maialina Chianti Classico - The 2009 Chianti Classico emerges from the glass with layers of dark fruit, herbs, tobacco and sweet spices. It possesses striking mid-palate juiciness all the way through to the layered, focused finish. This is another beautiful wine from La Maialina. $16

    2008 La Maialina Chianti Classico Riserva - Inviting aromas of black cherries, plums and sweet spices, with notes of roses and black pepper, elegant and lush on the palate with ripe round tannins and a long finish. $21

    2011 Seghesio Barolo - The 2011 Seghesio Barolo opens up with pretty aromas of red fruits and strawberries followed by licorice, wet stones which all take shape in the glass. It possesses a beautiful silky, polished texture with gorgeous balance backed by juicy red fruits which turn dry and grip on the finish. Accessible now, bur should evolve nicely over the next decade. $38
