• 5/13 Older Bordeaux Tasting

    Saturday the 13th from 1pm till 4pm
****Please note the tasting time change!!! We will be tasting from 1pm to 4pm and will be closing the shop at 5pm so I can take Mrs. RCW to a Los Lobos concert for Mothers Day****

It's time we take a look at some older Bordeaux and see how they've stood up over time. Now rather than tasting wines from the 70s and 60s we'll focus on wines that most of us can actually afford. I'll let the snooty people worry about Chateau Lafine and Margaux.

This tasting will focus on wines pre-2008 and below. Why? Well cause these are the wines that we can still get lots of and they are now coming directly from the Chateau so I know they've been well taken care of.

2002 Chateau Lanessan Haut-Medoc $26 - Garnet red and inviting and a constant overachiever in the Haut-Médoc, the Château Lanessan is classic left bank Bordeaux. A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot with the rest of the blend made up of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Silky and voluptuous, this well balanced wine has soft acidity balanced out by its earthiness and flavors of cherry and currant. Perfect for any cut of roasted beef, game an even poultry.

2004 Chateau Grand Corbin Manuel Saint-Emilion Grand Cru $30 - As one customer who just bought a case and ad me send it out to NY said..."it's simply drinking perfect right now and we can't get enough of it."

2005 Chateau Aney Haut-Medoc 375ml $20 - A serious Haut-Médoc, this wine exhibits surprising depth and ripeness, great color, medium body, and a deep, rich finish. It is not complex, but it is mouth-filling and very satisfying.

2008 Chateau D'Agassac Haut-Medoc $30 - Château d’Agassac, the chateau’s first wine, is made from the estate’s oldest vines and best deep gravel terroirs. It is the archetype of the modern Médoc, structured and powerful whilst also well-balanced and fruity, displaying tannins with no aggressive astringency. Made for cellaring, it will also delight lovers of middle-aged wines seeking fruit, substance and balance. It is one of the most highly regarded and award-winning wines in the Haut-Médoc region.

I might even have a little something older for you all...have to ask the wife first though.
