• Domaine Catherine Le Goeuil Tasting on Sat 27th @3pm

Saturday the 27th from 3-7pm for FREE!
It's kinda funny...Catherine has been making wines since 1993 yet her wines all cost less than $24 and cost as little as $16 per bottle.  Average age of the vines she owns (13 acres)...50 years.  The Domaine has been certified organic since 1999 and produces between 1600-2100 cases per year.
We'll be tasting all three of Catherine's wines including a 2011 white wine.  What you say?  Older white wine?  Surely the wine must be bad!  Well, if you think all white wines should be consumed young...Safeway is right down the street and I'm sure they can sell you something that was made a few months ago.
This will be a rare chance to try so actual organic wines from France.  Not that sissy organic stuff we have here in the US...real organic.
2011 Domaine Catherine Le Goeuil Cotes du Rhone Blanc - 1/3 each of Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Claudette with vine ages between 8-50 years old.  Fermented in stainless steel and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered.  You'll be tasting all that Limestone and Clay your palate is craving. ($19)
2013 Domaine Catherine Le Goeuil Cotes du Rhone Rouge - A blend of 65% Grenache, 25% Syrah and the rest Carignan with an average of 50 year old vines...you know you're in for treat when I pop the cork on this mamma-mamma!  ($16)
2012 Domaine Catherine Le Goeuil Cotes du Rhone Villages Cairanne Rouge - With only 17 (trying to remember back to my wine studying days) producers allowed to use the Cairanne AOC on their labels...this is one of the smallest regions in the Rhone.  Wines are spicy, full-bodied yet slicker than snot on a brass doorknob! ($24)
We'll also be tasting a few other wines that are not part of Catherine's Domaine but are so awesome and have such personality, they're like watching Cosimo in the shop with his bed.
2014 Ontanon Clarete RosadoThe pale pink color suggests shyness, but this rose delivers expressive watermelon, spice and light herbal flavors, with a hint of sweetness rounding out the finish.  Yes a rosé but get this...only $12 for this bad boy!
2014 Vina Mein Ribeiro Blanc - Light yellow. Fragrant scents of poached pear, melon and orange zest, with a chalky mineral overtone. Fresh orchard fruit and honeydew flavors are enlivened by zesty citrus peel and ginger qualities and pick up a hint of quinine with air. This focused, clean wine finishes with excellent cut and length. ($17) ***think of this for that salty ham in a few weeks.  No not you father...the Easter ham.
And that's all she wrote boys and girls.
