    We'll be taking a trip to the old country (Italy) this weekend.  Actually...we'll be having two very special guest at the shop on Saturday.  One who represents Cantina Mogoro of Sardinia and the other is the owner of Enoteca Pontevecchio in Florence.  Now yes Enoteca Pontevecchia is a wine shop/bar but they produce their own wine which we have in the shop.  You might remember this guy named Tony Sasa?  Well, we got rid of him for someone better...his wife Laura...the REAL boss!  
    We've got some serious wines coming in from Sardinia & we have some new wines from the Sasa clan.  
    2013 Florentia Pinot GrigioMade from hand selected grapes, this classic Pinot Grigio is a light straw color with a fine, elegant and clean yet intense aroma.The dry flavor has a pleasant green apple aftertaste.
    2012 Sasa Sant'Antimo DOC - 50% Sangiovese, 20% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot.  This blend of grapes imparts a warm international style with the typical flavors of the Italian terroir. Sant’Antimo is a fresh and fruity wine with good structure and even softness.  Aged 10 months in oak followed by 4 months in the bottle.
    2012 Sasa Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC - 80% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella.  Sasa Ripasso Valpolicella has aromas of intense ripe cherry and jam followed by full soft flavors and a long pleasant finish. Easy to drink, yet beguiling and intriguing.   Aged 1 year in large oak barrels followed by 4 months in the bottle.
    2010 Sasa "Puro" Brunello di Montalcino DOCG - 100% Sangiovese.  This dry, warm and well-balanced Brunello presents an intense garnet color with shades of orange. The penetrating bouquet has a soft inkling of fruit, spice and vanilla. Stylish and elegant, this is Sangiovese at its best.   Aged 3 years in large oak barrels followed by 1 year in the bottle.
    2010 Cantina di Mogoro Bovale DOC - 100% Bovale.  The color is deep red with a slight purple rim. Notes of sweet aromas of red ripe fruit fill your nose.  Cherries and loads of herbs are in there as well.  Solid structure and tannins with some good spices to boot.  
    2011 Cantina di Mogoro Vignaruja CannonauThe color is dark and intense ruby red, with bright garnet reflections. At the nose it’s characterized by delicate smells ranging from violet to rose, to ripe berries as blackcurrant and light notes of Mediterra- nean aromatic herbs such as thyme, juniper and rosemary. In the mouth it’s smooth, full-bodied and complex, with a nice aromatic evolution, supported by well-integrated tannins that attend the wine into a lingering finish.
    As you can see...these are some pretty serious wines and having our special guest here to talk us through the wines will open everyones eyes to something new and amazing.
