• A Spanish Delight on 9/28

I tasted some pretty amazing wines this afternoon with a Spanish importer of which...I changed the tasting immediately. These are the 6 wines that will blow your mind and make you beg for more.

2016 Protos Verdejo Rueda - Greenish straw color, bright and clean. Powerful on the nose, showing notes of green apple, citrus and tropical fruits, white blossoms, fragant herbs and fennel. Very fresh on the palate, with good acidity. Flavorful, fruity, well balanced, complex, with a long finish and slightly bitter aftertaste.

2017 Hiruzta Txakolina Hondarribia - Clean and sparkling. Light yellow in colour with greenish tones. The presence of very fine carbonic bubbles can be observed when pouring a glass of this wine from a certain height, typical of this type of Txakolis.
Intense aromas of white (pear and apple), citrus (grapefruit) and tropical (pineapple and passion fruit) fruit aromas, also swathed with white flower (orange blossom) scents, all enhanced by the subtle release of the natural carbonic gas.
It is very balanced and fresh, with a certain sense of spicy sparkle on the tongue and an integrated acidity. Pleasant on the palate, with a citrus and tropical aftertaste. Long and aromatic finish.

2017 Otazu Chardonnay Navarra - Mixed white-fruit aromas are generic. In the mouth, this is full in body and grabby in texture. Flavors of jumbled citrus, salt and orange peel finish pithy and briny but with good feel.

2016 Prontos Tinto Fino Ribera del Duero - Ruby in color with a purple hue. Black fruit aromas, well balances with the oak, bringing sweet spicy and nice toasty notes. Good structure. It is tasty, sweet, well balanced, with pleasant smooth tannins and toasty reminders on the finish.

2016 Prontos Crianza Ribera del Duero - Cherry color with garnet rim, bright and intense. On the nose, red fruit expression, powerful, elegant, dry stone, coca bean, creamy oak, hints of spices. On the palate, powerful, flavorful, fruity, good acidity, smoky aftertaste, toasty, long finish.

2011 Otazu Premium Cuvee Navarra - Plum, spice and dark chocolate flavors mingle with herbal and smoky notes in this plump red. Firm tannins and clean acidity give this structure and balance. Generous, but remains fresh.
