• Bertani Tasting Part I on 9/8

    Saturday the 8th at 3pm till 7pm
    Summer is gone and the Fall is here...well kinda. On that note we will be tasting an old producer that was just made available via a new distributor. Well, the producer decided to jump ship with a huge importer and give some love to a small one and we are thankful since the pricing dropped and wines are actually being brought into our area now.

    So...Bertani it is. Now, Bertani makes a pretty healthy about of wines so we will be tasting this portfolio is two parts. Here we go...

    2017 Bertani Pinot Grigio "Velante" - This monovarietal Pinot Grigio is a fresh wine with an intense taste that expresses the true essence of the grape variety. Elegant, mineral, sapid and racy, it is a carefree and light wine with taste.

    2016 Bertani Due Uve White - Pinot Grigio 50%; Sauvignon Blanc 50%. Pale straw, with lively green reflections. Assertive and well-defined. Nuances of elderflower combined with hints of peach and apricot.

    2017 Bertani Bertarose - A lychee-pink colour. Fresh aromas of pomegranate and redcurrants with notes of white flowers. Decisive on the palate, good body and good balance between acidity and tanginess. Excellent length. Perfect as an aperitif, it also goes well with salads, delicate-flavored pasta dishes, and white meat.

    2014 Bertani Secco "Original Vintage Edition" - Dark ruby core with a red to platinum rim. Aromas of plum, cocoa powder, cherry and cordial with dried aromatic herbs. Sour cherry, black tea and cherry pit on the palate. Dusty tannin profile with mid-palate grip and a generous coffee bean finish. Alcohol and acid are moderate and balanced. Good concentration. Pure and linear. Lovely old-vine complexity though it seems youthful at this point. Dry and well-balanced with pleasing freshness in its lingering finish. Blend: 80% Original Corvina clones (Rizza, Nera and Corvinone), 10% Cabernet, 5% Sangiovese, 5% Syrah.

    2012 Bertani Secco Rosso Veronese - An intense red colour with ruby highlights. Hints of redcurrants, blackberries and cocoa powder on the nose, together with spicy notes of black pepper, cloves and nutmeg. On the palate a pleasant flavour of red fruit, sour cherries, concentrated cherry and black tea, followed by fine, powdery tannins with a coffee bean finish. It is a plush wine with good weight and the typical complexity of mature vineyards, though still young and vibrant.

    2016 Bertani Valpolicella - Light ruby red with aromas of red fruits and some slight spice. This wine has a light structure with elegant flavors of plum, raspberry, cherry and cloves. It is a fresh wine with balance and a long finish.
