• Compagnie Medocaine Tasting with Craig & Katie on 5/4

    May 4th at 4pm
You are in for a treat people...Katie has lined up a killer tasting with Craig from Medocaine. We are taking some serious French hooch here people. And not just a few wines but six plus a secret one...

    Here's the lineup.

2016 Chateau La Maroutine Blanc - Intense, zesty nose. Good attack on the palate driven by the dynamic cut of the Sauvignon Blanc. Intense and pure citrus expression of the Sauvignon Blanc on the palate ending with and elegantly smooth finish.

2015 Chateau Roustaing - Classic "old vines" Bordeaux from a great estate. Clean and medium bodied with red and black currants, tobacco and espresso notes with fine tannins. Lovely with roast beef and pork, or a nice cheese assortment.

2014 Chateau La Maroutine Rouge - This is a ripe red-fruit wine with wood layers. A portion of this balanced Bordeaux is made from 35-year-old wines that were aged in wood. Tannins and acidity show the wine is still young.

2013 Chateau La Croix Bonis - Intimately linked to Château Phélan Ségur, La Croix Bonis comes from selected parcels at the property. Made principally from Merlot, the wines are aged for 12 months. A fine expression of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, La Croix Bonis is a fleshy, supple wine, very fruity with well-integrated tannins.

2013 Petit Figeac - This wine has a juicy, fruity character that comes from the 60% of Cabernets in the blend. It is just touched by wood and, like a true Bordeaux second wine, it is showing plenty of perfumed fruitiness already. With fresh acidity and a bright character, the wine will be ready to drink from 2018.

2008 Castelnau de Suduiraut - Château Suduiraut is an achingly beautiful, classically French Chateau, perched between the Ciron and the Garonne and it is the autumnal morning mist that rolls off these rivers that provides the perfect conditions for Noble Rot. "But wait, you were painting such a lovely picture!" you might wail, distraught. But, we reassure you, Noble Rot is Sauternes' best friend and allows it to develop the other-worldly marmalade, minerally, manuka honey flavours that make it so dearly-loved the world over. Happy ending after all, eh!

    Get ready people...
