• Fattoria Selvapiana Tasting LIVE w/ Pot Roast!

Friday January the 13th at 3pm

That's right...we'll have a roast in the crockpot to go with all the wines this Saturday! Who does that in the year 2017? We do!

One of my favorite produces in Tuscany is Fattoria Selvapiana. When I was living in Rome I visited the estate a few times and just fell in love. The wines are classic and textbook plus they make a Rufina to die for! Prices are right in everyones wheelhouse and the Vin Santo...like drinking tears from an angel.

Here's what I've got rolling into the shop this Friday at 3pm till 7pm

2014 Selvapiana Chianti Rufina - Elegant and fragrant, this opens with aromas of pressed rose, crushed violet, wild berry and a whiff of baking spice. The vibrant, focused palate delivers juicy red cherry, raspberry, white pepper, cinnamon and dried herb. It’s well balanced, with supple tannins and bright acidity. Drink through 2018.

2011 Selvapiana Chianti Riserva Bucerchiale - The excellent 2011 Chianti Rufina Riserva Vigneto Bucerchiale shows distinctive and attractive tones of cherry cola, balsam herb, tea leaf, chopped mint and blue flower. The aromas are ethereal, pure and show beautiful vertical lift from the glass. Although the nose is decidedly feminine in approach, the mouthfeel feels masculine with lingering flavors of wet earth and leather. The aromas are true to the territory.

2011 Selvapiana Fornace IGT - This is the Super Tuscan blend made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc & Merlot from the vineyard on the property called Fornace. The wine is aged in small barrels for 15 months giving it structure and smoothness. This is a lovely wine to enjoy with grilled meats or stews or with a delicious cheese plate.

2011 Selvapiana Syrah - This 250 case production of Syrah will blow your minds so much you'll need to bring a mop bucket to clean up the floors for when you minds hit it!

2007 Selvapiana Vin Santo del Chianti Rufina- A deep amber wine with dried fruit on the nose. Rich and sweet on the palate balanced by excellent acidity. Fresh on the finish.

There you have it. Chances are it will be raining so these wines are perfect for a nice roast. Matter fact...I think we might just have one simmering in the old wine shop crock pot.
