Kopke has some of the largest and most impressive stocks of colheitas (vintage dated, barrel aged ports) in all of the Douro. It is an old house with a wonderful tradition of focusing on tawnies and colheitas that deliver a true, layered, very wood influenced style of port. This particular vintage shows loads of caramel, toffee, and hints of dried fruits on the nose, all leading to a palate that has luscious flavors of dried date and caramel, in a really softly textured, elegant frame. Quite delicious.
