A highly collectable, gorgeously drinkable wine, the ’08 Rosso del Bepi shows all the earmarks of Quintarelli Amarone--fistfuls of ripe fruit, velvety texture, an expansive palate, and the ineffable Quintarelli qualities of richness, lushness and opulence. Dark, rich and elegant, the ’05 Rosso del Bepi offers layers of flavors: ripe black fruit, cocoa and spices, dried flowers and espresso. The late, great Quintarelli produced his rare and delicious Rosso del Bepi in only four previous vintages: 1994, 1996 1999, and 2002. Insiders often refer to this wine as "Quintarelli Amarone at half the price,” and Rosso del Bepi is, in fact, technically an Amarone, declassified only because the vintage failed to satisfy Quintarelli's exacting standards. Textured and complex, this wine is a fantastic testament to the kaleidoscopic texture that is the hallmark of Giuseppe Quintarelli, the Veneto’s greatest producer.
