Contrary to what were most growers’ intuitions about this vintage, Pierre Breton did not bottle his 2007 Bourgueil Les Perrieres until last December. “This has finesse, delicacy, and energy, which I prize,” remarks Breton, and the narcissus and iris perfume here is not only alluring but does indeed set you up with the expectation of buoyancy that is then fulfilled on a palate of blackberry with bitter huckleberry and tart fruit skin. This is brightly invigorating and refined in tannin, finishing with saline and chalky persistence as well as continued wafting florality.
