The young 2018 OGV Old Garnacha Vine has a mealy nose with notes of cereals and ripe berry fruit. It's a collaboration with the family and Alonso López and sold through Mesa Imports in the US (a different importer). It's nicely crafted, varietal and ripe without excess, juicy and keeping the balance and freshness. 32,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2020. This tasting note is from Parker and although he gave it something like 91 points. Take that for what you will but when it comes to Spanish wines, he's usually pretty solid.
When I tasted it I had no clue about points or scores because I don't believe in them. What I believe in is the availability of the wine, can we get it at a good price and most of all...is it a quality wine that you all would love. Well all three checked out.
This wine is solid!
