Domaine Calendal Plan de Dieu 2022

Made completely by Gilles Ferran of Domaine des Escaravailles, the 2022 Côtes Du Rhône Villages Plan De Dieu is the usual blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre that spent nine months in French oak barrels (10% new). More up-front black raspberry and darker berry fruits, peppery herbs, and violet notes define this richer, concentrated, medium to full-bodied effort, which has tons of character.  

Plan de Dieu (translated = "God's Plain") is a Southern Rhone appellation created in 2005, and celebrated by insiders for its low-yielding Grenache-based wines that sit atop cold clay.  Plan de Dieu covers the villages of Camaret-sur-Aigues, Jonquières, Violes and Travaillan, extending up to the foot of the Dentilles deMontmirail, bordering Gigondas and Vacqueyras.14.5% ABV
