Mathieu Chambeyron treats this little country wine as if it were his top-of-the-line Cote-Rotie. “Cuvee Clara,” named for his daughter, hails from two old-vine vineyard plots--one with 50-year-old vines and the other 30. Pressed with partial stems and aged in large barrels for 10 months, this cuvee of 100% Syrah bursts with bright berry notes, leather and roasted earth.
