The red 2017 Venus de La Figuera was produced with Garnacha from a vineyard on limestone-rich soils at 600 meters in altitude in the village of La Figuera. It has the fragrance of the Garnacha from the village in a warm Mediterranean vintage when the wine achieved 15% alcohol. It fermented with some whole clusters and indigenous yeast and matured in a 2,500-liter oak foudre for 18 months. This is aromatic, expressive and open, ripe and concentrated, but with amazing freshness and doesn't show the heat of the vintage at all. The palate is medium to full-bodied, and the tannins are very fine and elegant. This feels like a red from a cool vintage with the tasty sensation from the limestone soils.
