Vina Real Crianza Rioja 2019

The Viña Real is made from grapes grown in Rioja Alavesa where the people of the villages are dedicated almost totally to grape growing, this being a deep rooted tradition, passed down from generation to generation.  Vina Real is one of the oldest in the region (since 1920) and follows the golden balance between the rustic and modern style of winemaking. They continue to age their Rioja Crianza in American barrels, but in used ones and with a milder burn. So the 13-14 months in oak barrel emphasize the red fruit, also giving it a chocolate dimension that uplifts the wine.   The blend is also classic, consisting of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo, and has intoxicating cherry and strawberry aromas.  High-toned, floral aromas with orange peel and crushed blackberries. Medium-bodied with tight, chewy tannins that are polished and intense. Serious length and focus. Pair it with a juicy burger with caramelized onions, pork ribs with smoked bbq sauce, a ground meat lasagna, or jicama/ chickpea Tacos. 13.75% ABV

This is a great Value, Tempranillo dominant wine that you can enjoy even in the warmer months.  2019 was a good vintage and 2024 is the perfect time to start consuming this wine!
