The Thanisch family has cultivated wine since the year 1636 and can look back on a history covering almost 400 years.  The estate celebrated recently its 375th anniversary.

Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch Mosel Riesling Kabinett Bernkasteler Lay Cuvée Christina, part of a long running estate project centered on selective harvesting and parcel delineation. The Lay vineyard’s south oriented exposure promotes even maturation, while its fine slate soils support steady water regulation suited to lighter framed Kabinett wines. Vineyard work focuses on manual canopy adjustment and measured crop loads to achieve precise must weights. Grapes are harvested in multiple passes, pressed with minimal oxidation, and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel at a slow pace. Aging on fine lees refines texture and integrates residual sugar. Within the Thanisch lineup, Cuvée Christina highlights the Lay’s softer contours and is positioned to complement the more forceful expressions found in the estate’s Graben and Praelat bottlings. 8.5% ABV
