Il Bocale Montefalco Rosso is a full-bodied Sangiovese blend from the Umbria region of Italy. A small percentage of Merlot, Colorino and another unidentified indigenous grape variety add complexity and balance. This wine is matured in French oak barrels and smaller barriques for around 12 months, then aged for a further six months in bottle. A polished red with plus red fruits, sublet anise spice and notes of violet, this wine is smooth and rounded on the palate with ripe, fine-grained tannins. An excellent accompaniment to slow-cooked meat dishes such as osso buco.
