40% Croatina, 30% Ughetta (Vespolina), 30% Uva Rara
Hand-harvested old vines (over 50 to 100 years old) on steep clay-limestone and tuff slopes.  Fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in traditional old wooden casks ("tini") without temperature control.  Aged for 6 months in wood (oak and chestnut barrels).  Intense ruby red with brilliant purple or ruby-garnet highlights.  Complex aromas of black cherry, sour cherry, wild red berries, dried lavender, rose petals, carob, nutmeg, and crushed gravel.  Full-bodied, structured, and energetic with lively/tactile tannins, crisp red fruit acidity, a slight natural prickle/effervescence, and a dry, saline-mineral finish.  15% ABV
