Fabio Gea Barbera d'Alba Superiore Palma 2021

Fabio is a young winemaker and former geologist whose grandfather bequeathed him a few tiny plots around the Bricco in Barbaresco. His few rows of Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, and Grignolino amount to less than one hectare. The vines are co-planted with fruit trees and Fabio treats the vines with only small amounts of copper and sulfur, along with plant based remedies.  A rustic nature with an accessible structure, this Barbera was fermented in barrel and aged in stoneware. Minimal sulfur was added at bottling. The nose is bright, with spicy and fresh dark forest fruit. The palate is also focused and vibrant, with black cherry, dried herbs, and a hint of salty, dark minerality, balanced by bright acidity.  14% ABV
