The Rubeo is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc that underwent three months of appassimento, along with 30% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 10% Molinara. On the nose a mix of dusty rose, dried strawberries, brown spice and a lifting hint of mint. Like liquid velvet, this envelopes the palate, contrasting ripe red fruits with bitter cocoa and sour citrus, underscored by a core of zesty acidity. The 2017 tapers off with tremendous length, and a gentle tug of tannin as enriching notes of plum sauce and balsam herbs linger on and on.
