90% Sangiovese (from 1935 Vigna dell'Impero clones) and 10% Merlot
First made in 1998, it takes its name from a wild plant that grows abundantly on the estate, Cornelian cherry or cornus mas. Aged 12 to 14 months in small French oak barrels (barriques/tonneaux), followed by 6 months in the bottle (12–18 months total in French oak). Intense ruby-red color with vivid aromas of ripe red cherry, blackberry, wild berries, and delicate violet notes. Layered with sweet spices, wild herbs, cedar, graphite, orange peel, and subtle peppery or leather undertones. The palate offers vivid red and dark fruits accompanied by tart blackberries, ripe cherries, and plum. 13.5% ABV
